Re: [CREATESPACE] Inside Margins

Here are some other pages that *might* need attention: page 4 - red border in the gutter should be 0.375" page 5 - white edge on the top ad should be 0.25", or the red background must bleed page 6 - the outer edge needs a wider margin (0.25") before the woman's face page 18 - looks fine to me, as lo...

Re: [INGRAMSPARK] Does IngramSpark submit metadata to Books in Print?

You’re meant to do that yourself since you BYO the ISBN from your Bowker or other ISBN supplier account. That data is thensent to Books in Print.

Re: [COVER] Opinions

Can I have a go? A gruesome murder shocks the tiny township of Ingham, Queensland [ add setting if relevant -- Ingham is surrounded by sugar cane farms. This gives a point of difference to other murder mysteries ]. Detective Senior Sergeant Arnold Ryan feels it more keenly than most, for the victim ...

Re: [COVER] Opinions

That cover is heaps better! We still don’t know anything about the protagonist in the blurb though. Always start there. If it helps, use the journalist’s 5 Ws: who, what, when, where and why (not necessarily in that order). Don’t give away the why, but use it to form the hook line at the end of the ...

Re: [COVER] Opinions

Simplicity on a cover is fine, but only if it supports the title and blurb in conveying what the book is about. A vague connection is not going to do...

Re: [Problematic Issues/Questions Re CreateSpace]-New Author

I use IngramSpark. Their costs are about the same for printing, but they have a lot more print options, including landscape sizes and hard cover and saddle stitch binding. They do have setup and revision fees, but you can often get these waived by joining ALLI or waiting for IngramSpark's promotion ...

Re: [EBOOK] formatting

Sigil! You can take your Scrivener ePub and open it in Sigil to clean up the file, either in the HTML/CSS code or in the WYSIWYG editor. It has a built-in validator to confirm it will work on all platforms -- especially iBooks. I just upload the ePub to KDP and the auto-conversion to Mobi works perf...
