[AMAZON] Ingram book on Amazon ; product description.

Post by Dutchgirl » Sat Jun 23, 2018 3:04 pm

I just noticed Amazon listed my first Ingram book on their site.
All the important information is there; the description, size, pages and so forth.
Just one thing is not mentioned; it is in black/white.
Am I supposed to write what type book it is in the subtitle or description (color/ black white)?

Yes. If you feel that is important information for prospective buyers to have (and the Look Inside doesn't properly indicate this), than you'll have to include it in the description.

Thanks Seisa,

Amazon only shows images of the front and backcover. I don't know if Amazon will eventually also offer the 'Look inside function' .
But just in case: next time I will include the information in the description.

Amazon does Look Inside automatically for books produced through CreateSpace or KDP Print. For IngramSpark books, they do not; that is the publisher's responsibility. You'll need to look for information about the Search Inside the Book program and set up an account with them, then follow the guidelines to create and upload a file for Look Inside.

Ingram Choice.... Hi Dutchgirl, could you tell me why you went for Ingram publishing, there seems to be a multitude of publishing routes which I am now discovering and wondered if you had any pointers or preferences?

Thanks :)

For the last few years I published books with Createspace. I moved to Ingram for several reasons:
They offer hardbacks (Createspace doesn’t)
They have a huge distribution network
Createspace gives extended distribution a discount of 60%. With Ingram I can set it at 55%
Ingram has a better distribution network in Europe than Createspace. So if I want to publish Dutch books I'm better of with Ingram.
And last but not least Ingram is a professional book distributor. Book printing and distributing is all they do. Createspace is a just a part of Amazon. If Amazon wants to get rid of Createspace there is nothing holding them back.

You can actually set the wholesale discount as low as 30% or 35%, depending on the market, earning more per sale than you can through other POD companies.
