Hi All,

I'm Gareth, writing as GJ Stevens and I've joined today as I'm trying to navigate the self publishing world as I work to get my book published. It's not my first work, but the first I'm ready to put out there having gained some great feedback after publishing it on a daily blog.

I'll mainly be looking at trying to figure out which POD service to use, either KDP or CreateSpace. I live in the UK so I hear there are some advantages.

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum!

CreateSpace proofs and author copies print and ship from the US, while KDP Print can ship them from the UK, so that's the biggest advantage from your perspective. However, KDP Print currently only distributes to Amazon, while CS can distribute wider. KDP Print also doesn't currently distribute to the Amazon sites in certain countries, like Canada and (I believe) Mexico.

G'day Gareth, welcome to humble forum. For paperbacks, I am still convinced that CS is the way to go until they are absorbed by KDP. For ebooks, I am no longer convinced that KDP select is the way to go. I have recently started to move my books wide by placing them in D2D(Draft 2 Digital). With the amount of shenanigans going on in KU, reads being halved, suspect accounts, being banned etc., I am going to opt out of Select as my books come out of their exclusive period.
Many on here swear by Ingram Spark for paperbacks and hard covers. As long as you get in on a promotion period you do not have to pay the upfront fee($49). Still a revision fee if I am not mistaken, so best to make sure it right first time around. All the best.
