[Book Ratings] Ratings Spike

Post by Phoenix » Thu Nov 02, 2017 8:53 pm

I noticed a spike in one of my book's ratings while in my author central account. Nothing to get excited about, usually means only one ebook or paperback. A week later and I find no evidence of a book being sold in either digital or hard copy on my KDP report or my CS dashboard, as my book returns to its usual placement at about 2 millionth. Not sure what that means. Any possible explanations/suggestions?
Thanks,
Joe.

It's possible Amazon had a returned copy in their warehouse and that was shipped to the customer. So the customer order spiked your rating, but the sale had already been reported earlier by the initial customer who returned the book to Amazon.

As I have sold only digital copies online, I can't see that being the answer unless customers are allowed to return digital copies?. The only hard copies sold so far of that particular book have been sold by me in Australia, so not possible for them to be returned. I am not overly concerned as it is only a single sale occurrence. Nothing to panic over, just curious is all. Thanks for your suggestion.

Actually, it is possible to return an ebook to Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer ... =201252620.
