[CS/Smashwords] Publish on Smashword and amazon

Post by GoMePub2 » Thu Jan 25, 2018 2:02 pm

Can I publish on Smashword and CreateSpace at the same time?
If yes, do I have to do anything special with CS channels?

Yes, of course. CS prints paperback books only.

Smashwords handles ebooks of various formats only, their products do not interfere with each other.

You can also publish your ebook version as a Kindle Book on Amazon and then disable the Smashwords Amazon channel.

Read the Smashwords documentation carefully, they are pretty fussy about the formatting.

One thing you can't do Kay, is to opt into the Kindle Select program if you are publishing on KDP, and, hope to publish on Smashwords. Be careful of KDP's exclusivity agreement. If you have done so already, opt out after the 90 day exclusivity period and feel free to publish with anyone at that time. Conversely, if you are already with Smashwords and want to enter the select program on KDP, you will have to un-publish on Smashwords first, then wait a while for it to take effect before joining select. Just a head's up.
Joe.

Thank you both for your advice.
Although I have publish all my books with Kindle, I have never used Kindle Select so I'm safe there.
This why I asked, this question. There always seems to be an issue with using dual publishing companies.
I'll go fix the issue now.
Thanks again!
