[CIP PCN ONIX] Application submission changes at Library of Congress

I have no idea if anyone will read this. PrePub Book Link is the system for submitting applications for both CIP and PCN, effective May 21, 2019. The last day applications could be submitted through Electronic CIP, in use since the mid 2000s, was April 26, 2019. Publishers who had submitted applicat...

Re: [LCCN CIP] Cataloging and identification of books

Just got an email message. PrePub Book Link has been delayed until spring. The announcement was vaporware.

Re: [LCCN CIP] Cataloging and identification of books

I just glanced at the PCN site. Publishers participating in either CIP or PCN will use a common registration process. Right now, the forms are similar but their approved by different groups.

Fall is almost over, so I hope they get the new system up and running soon.

Re: [ISBN] ProQuest extended maintenance window myidentifiers.com myidentifiers.au

I don't either, but if nefarious code was surreptitiously installed, it'll grab any credit card numbers used for one-time transactions as well. American Express provides credit card numbers valid for one-time use that are different than the number on the physical card. I wish MasterCard and Visa did...

[ISBN] ProQuest extended maintenance window myidentifiers.com myidentifiers.au

ProQuest has a message up on the myidentifiers.com and myidentifiers.au Web sites that they are undergoing an extended maintenance window. Single ISBN purchases are referred to their "channel partner" Publisher Services (which I had always wondered if it was a legitimate company). To purchase multip...

Re: [spammed private messages] Deleting private messages

I found a control to turn off private messages. I'd prefer that users (not spammers of Web boards) post questions related to things I've posted on the web board anyway.

Re: [spammed private messages] Deleting private messages

I tried again today. This time, I could delete all the spammed private messages. What's going on?

[spammed private messages] Deleting private messages

I hadn't checked this Web board in months. I have 7 private messages, all of which were spam. I marked all, then chose delete, then go. The private messages persist. I tried several times yesterday and today to get rid of them.

Re: [LCCN CIP] Cataloging and identification of books

All right, Walton, I've been neglecting my duties to keep the self publishing world informed of the latest changes in preparing manuscripts for cataloging and identification. Library of Congress Cataloging in Publication Program will offer a new method of submitting manuscripts for cataloging. One a...

Re: [cataloging] Library cataloging of your book supports your marketing efforts

Every publisher that is eligible to participate in Cataloging In Publication Program at Library of Congress should do so. If the publisher is ineligible, then pay for Publisher's Cataloging In Publication. This is a prerequisite for sale to libraries. Just wanted to point out my recent good experien...
