Re: [CS ordering] New year

Australian ISBNs can only be bought from Thorpe Bowker. The last time I checked, there's a publisher setup fee of $55 (one-off) and then $80 for blocks of 10. I haven't bought any for a while because I buy in blocks of 100. Do check out IngramSpark now if you can -- they still have free setup until ...

Re: [CS ordering] New year

Seriously? Why haven't you move to Spark yet? You'd probably already have the books by now. It does seem absurd, considering the holiday buying season is over, that there are delays this far into January and will take 2 months to recover from. I can't recall if this problem existed last year since I...

Re: [CREATESPACE] Help with colour book pricing

It's 7 cents per page for the whole book, not just the coloured pages. It's worth doing a cost comparison using the calculator at IngramSpark. They have a cheaper "Standard Colour" option, which is great for books with minimal colour density. Rich photos can appear a little dull or experience "bandi...

[ebooks] Microsoft ebook store

Did anyone else know they have one? I just read about it on Publishers Weekly’s website. It doesn’t look like you can go direct to supply them with your titles — the only way in right now is via Coresource (via IngramSpark). Can’t say I like the website — you can only browse, not search, so I can’t ...

Re: (Ingram Spark) Wholesale %

The minimum discount for IngramSpark is 30%. However, that won't help if you're wanting to make your book available to bookstores as they will need to inflate the sale price to cover their costs to order the books in. So you will need to set your discount to the standard 55%. Setup promo codes are t...

It's a good glitch to discover. They can do it again anytime. :)

[GIVEAWAYS] Amazon/Goodreads weirdness

In checking my KDP report for November I noticed a strange entry against one of my titles. Amazon had "sold" one free copy and was marked as a "Goodreads Giveaway copy". I also got paid for this "sale". So is Amazon selecting KDP titles for giveaway on Goodreads without the publisher's knowledge? Ha...

Re: [CS] New book ... bad cover

Sometimes it's just processed incorrectly at CS's end. Often resubmitting the same file fixes the problem.

Also, make sure to complain to CS about the faulty cover under the Satisfaction Guarantee, and they should replace the proof copy free of charge.

Probably because it’s an Australian organisation.

Re: [INGRAMSPARK] Free setup period extended

@danwiz -- not sure if this was before your time at CS, but they used to charge a $39 fee to enrol books in EDC. IngramSpark could go that route one day and abolish the setup and revision fees, but promo periods can be quite effective as a marketing tool, as is indefinite free setup/revisions for me...
