Re: [POD OPTIONS] Pages vs Cost of printing my dilemnas

Are you soliciting for "jet packs for pigs" . . . count me in! It sounds like a winner.

Re: [FORMATTING] odt to mobi

I have used Sigil several ways. One, I have coded the document in NotePad or WordPad, then copied it into Sigil. I have copied text directly into Sigil, then formatted things there. I have created an epub and opened it in Sigil, where I could tweak things. As for images, I have added them in Sigil, ...

I won't link to as I'm not sure links are allowed , if you are talking about adding a link to a post here, you can! You can add links either using the link icon, or just type the complete URL into your text. When we were looking for forum software for this site, one of the features we wanted was be...

Re: [FORMATTING] odt to mobi

As I recall, Writer 2epub sounds like what I used. But I just checked. I used it with LibreOffice, not OpenOffice. These are fundamentally the same programs, but are different forks . . . that is LO started with OO, but made some changes, what? who knows. OO was open source code, free for others to ...

Re: [FORMATTING] odt to mobi

OO, the OO e-pub plug-in, Sigil, and Calibre are all free programs. Sarah will, but I think the e-pub upload to Kindle for them to convert is free. At a minimum, I would open the e-pub in Sigil and see how it looks. You can tweak things there, in fact, you could do everything there, except the e-pub...

Re: [FORMATTING] odt to mobi

Roughly, you have three choices: OO > e-pub > Mobi OO has a very good epub conversion plug-in. Get it, install it, and use that. It will convert your file to an e-pub. Then get Calibre, Use Calibre to convert your file to MOBI. I often open the epub in Sigil. This is a WYSIWYG epub editor. You can m...

Re: [INTRODUCTION] New Guy

You are welcome. I hope that if you have questions, we can help you find answers. As Sarah noted, she added a tag to you post. [INTRODUCATION]. As you'll see, we do get some spam, it's been running about 3-6 per day. Not only do spammers not have relevant titles/subjects, but they do not use tags. T...

Re: [SHIPPING] UK delivery times for proofs

My guess is that once a book has been proofread and edited to death, 99% of all printed proofs are unnecessary. That is, the proof is intended to show the printability and quality of the book, not for a last stab as getting the writing and formatting right. But that 1% is a lot, if you're in it. I h...

Re: [KDP] best page size formatting?

There are resources: Sigil (WYSIWYG epub eitor) and Calibre (conversions and epub editor) are free. Aaron Shepard has several Kindle books (From Word to Kindle, HTML Fixes for Kindle, Images in Kindle (I'm sure I've botched the titles)) that can help. The print to Kindle takes some planning. Be info...
